ELI Releases Electronic Versions Of Award-Winning Workplace Legal Training ProgramCivil Treatment for Managers Now Available in CD-ROM and Intranet Versions March 13, 2001 Using these new versions of ELI's course, companies can implement critical compliance training faster while reducing the time managers spend away from their jobs. These electronic versions also provide an ongoing resource for review as well as a helpful reference tool on workplace compliance issues. "A growing number of companies offer material online but few offer real learning," commented Stephen Paskoff, President of ELI. "We made sure that our electronic versions mirror our award-winning classroom experience. These new versions further illustrate our commitment to help companies and their managers understand their risks and obligations -- and protect themselves -- in the rapidly changing world of employment law." ELI created the best-selling instructor-led program -- Civil Treatment for Managers -- to provide organizations with tools to communicate complex workplace legal information in clear, everyday language. Civil Treatment for Managers uses an interactive and experiential design to give managers the training and the tools they need to manage fairly and legally in today's challenging workplace. The online versions of Civil Treatment for Managers use the same learning objectives, support materials, and outcomes as the instructor-led program. ELI also incorporated many of the same videos that support the classroom sessions in the new versions. Using interactive branching, the program enables online users to experience first hand what it is like to face tough cross-examination by an opposing lawyer in simulated courtroom situations - without leaving their computers. "With the same content and quality available through three different media," observed Paskoff, "companies now have the freedom to create a range of blended learning solutions. For example, one employee could use a combination of classroom and CD-ROM-based learning, while another experienced the same content entirely through the company's Intranet." The program includes ten modules on topics such as sexual harassment, discrimination of all types, the Family Medical Leave Act, glass ceiling issues, and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Cingular Wireless chose the online version of Civil Treatment for Managers program because of the wide variety of workplace legal issues it addresses. "We were searching for a program that was not merely sexual harassment or discrimination. Civil Treatment for Managers was able to satisfy that requirement," said Rob Lauber, Executive Director of Learning Services at Cingular Wireless. Learners can take the modules in any order but must complete all ten before beginning the final assessment. That assessment provides a self-check for the participant and provides each person with appropriate tips and suggestions for areas that may need additional attention. Once the assessment has been completed, an online version generates a report indicating which learners have finished the course. Paskoff observes that "many clients using ELI's training programs have reported reduced litigation expenses, positive changes in corporate culture, an increased use of company policies and internal systems, and a decrease in external complaints." The electronic versions of Civil Treatment for Managers can be easily customized to include specific policies and a company's logo.
